Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Mukhtasab: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business publishes original research articles, reviews, and conceptual papers in the fields of Islamic economics, finance, and business. Authors are expected to follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting manuscripts.

1. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) at https://journal.an-nur.org/index.php/mukhtasab. Submissions sent via email will not be processed. Authors must register and log in before submitting a manuscript.

2. Language

Manuscripts can be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. Authors must ensure linguistic accuracy and clarity before submission. Manuscripts in English should use either British or American spelling consistently.

3. Manuscript Length

Articles should be between 5,000 – 8,000 words in length, including references, tables, and figures. Book reviews should not exceed 2,000 words.

4. Manuscript Format

Manuscripts must be typed in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format, using:

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt
  • Spacing: 1.15 line spacing
  • Margins: 2.5 cm (all sides)
  • Paper size: A4

Each manuscript should include the following sections:

  1. Title: Concise and informative, no more than 15 words.
  2. Author Information: Full name(s), institutional affiliation, and email address of corresponding author.
  3. Abstract: Written in English and Bahasa Indonesia, 150–250 words, followed by 3–5 keywords.
  4. Introduction: Background, research problems, objectives, and literature review.
  5. Methodology: Research design, data collection, and analytical methods.
  6. Results and Discussion: Findings and interpretation with reference to previous studies.
  7. Conclusion: Summary of findings, implications, and recommendations.
  8. References: Follow APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition style.

5. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be clearly numbered, titled, and placed close to the related text. Data sources must be cited below each table or figure when applicable.

6. Citation and References

All sources must be cited both in-text and in the reference list using the APA 7th Edition citation style. References should primarily consist of recent and relevant scholarly works from journals, books, and credible online sources. Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley or Zotero.

7. Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere. Plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical research practices are strictly prohibited. All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before review.

8. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Reviewers evaluate the quality, originality, and scholarly value of the manuscript. The final decision (acceptance, revision, or rejection) rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

9. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their articles. Published works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), allowing redistribution and adaptation with proper credit and identical license terms.

10. Publication Fee

Currently, Mukhtasab does not charge any article processing or publication fee (APC). All accepted articles are published free of charge under the open-access policy.
