Plagiarism Policy

Mukhtasab: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism. Every manuscript submitted to this journal must be the original work of the author(s) and must not have been published elsewhere or be under consideration by another journal.

Prior to the peer review process, all submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or similar tools) to identify overlapping or similar text. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 30% (excluding references, quotations, and standard methodological phrases) will be returned to the author for revision or may be rejected outright depending on the severity of duplication.

Forms of plagiarism include, but are not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, or data from other sources without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without acknowledgment.
  • Submitting another person’s work, in whole or in part, as one’s own.
  • Recycling one’s own previously published work (self-plagiarism) without citation or permission.

If plagiarism is detected at any stage before or after publication the editorial board will take appropriate action in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. This may include immediate rejection or retraction of the article, notification to the author’s institution, and prohibition of future submissions from the offending author(s).

By submitting a manuscript to Mukhtasab, authors affirm that their work is free from plagiarism and that all sources have been appropriately acknowledged.
