Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Mukhtasab: Journal of Economics and Islamic Business undergoes a rigorous and structured peer review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, and relevance of published articles. The journal implements a double-blind peer review system, where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the evaluation process to promote objectivity and fairness.

  1. Initial Evaluation: Upon submission, each manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial team to verify its conformity with the journal’s focus, scope, and formatting guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to authors for revision or rejected before peer review.
  2. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to at least two qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the topic. Reviewers evaluate the paper’s originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance to Islamic economics and business studies.
  3. Review Outcomes: Based on reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor may decide one of the following:
    • Accepted without revision
    • Accepted with minor revisions
    • Revisions required (major)
    • Rejected
  4. Revision Stage: Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewers’ feedback and resubmit within the specified timeframe. The revised version may be re-evaluated by the same reviewers if necessary.
  5. Final Decision: The final decision on manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the overall quality of the paper.
  6. Editing and Publication: Accepted papers will undergo language editing, proofreading, and layout formatting before publication. Authors will be notified once their article is scheduled for online publication.

The peer review process typically takes between 4–8 weeks, depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the availability of reviewers. Mukhtasab is committed to maintaining transparency, academic integrity, and fairness throughout the review process.
